Made up of partners Tallulah Vigars and Alan Drever-Smith, TAP Duo aims to showcase the best that percussion has to offer. Encompassing a huge variety of genres, instruments, and sounds, TAP will transport you to the thrilling percussion universe.
Since our first small recital at Hull University in 2016, our musical synergy has been undeniable, with other musicians keen for us to play alongside them throughout University and beyond.
With experience performing in pit bands for musicals, competing at national competitions together, providing versatile additions to smaller ensembles, and wowing audiences as a duo, our integrated sound has continued to develop.
Our fiery and absorbing performances are made possible by our close personal relationship and shared love of music, with each of us bringing something unique to the pairing.
Tallulah is an award-winning percussionist and sound engineer, with a degree in Creative Music Technology; she’s an experienced performer, playing everything from Orchestral to Jazz to Afro-Cuban.
Alan is a talented drummer, percussionist, and pianist who also loves to teach and conduct. He’s as at home performing in a musical pit band as he is teaching a group workshop, or even on Sibelius transcribing an arrangement.
What makes us unique, alongside our musical chemistry, is our range and versatility. Whilst we love to create engaging performances as a percussion duo, we work together in a huge variety of other roles:

Our goal is to create inspiring musical experiences that are a combination of intelligent performance, impressive percussive skill, visual art, and emotion. We aim to immerse our audiences in the beauty of percussion, finding innovative ways to showcase this versatile family of instruments.
Our music is accessible to everyone; our eclectic and visually engaging style appeals to audiences of all ages, be they classical fanatics or first-time concert goers.
Together, our sound combines Western Percussion with World sounds, mixes Classical with Popular, and even features some more Avant Garde themes.

Our 2019 visual album “As One” takes our intuitive playing to another level. Staged in a variety of locations around the country, our performances are interactive with the surrounding environment and visually striking.
A collaborative live performance at Kardomah 94, one of the key venues in hosting Hull City of Culture 2017 events. In this rhythmic and dramatic performance TAP duo performed alongside Hull-born percussionist and Royal Northern Film Orchestra Musician Alex Walker.
This performance featured TAP Duo showing off an impressive 5 Octave Marimba at the Albemarle Music Centre, Hull.

Bookable as a duo or individually, available as drummers, percussionists, or a combination of both, and adaptable to almost any style. With so much experience performing together, you’ll struggle to find a tighter percussion section.
Sound and Video Engineering
With experience producing our own visual album together, and a variety of individual projects, we can help facilitate recording of your visual and audio projects, as well as manage your technology to ensure seamless live performance events.
